Hello, this is M, the concept-cafe writer!
This time I went to CURE MAID, located on the fourth floor of Onoden, right after coming out from the Akihabara Electric Town to Chuo-dori! I've been to Akihabara many times, but this was actually my first time going into this Onoden. I thought it was an electronics store, but there was a shop like this inside.
At this shop, the maids' appearance is fairly classic, and the shop's atmosphere somehow evokes a Japanese-style sweets parlor; if anything, I thought it would suit the image of a Meiji-era serving girl. (The interior. It felt like a modern-chic coffee house.)
It's a shame I can't photograph the maids. (If you're curious, check out CURE MAID's website.)
And the collaboration menus are very abundant. Even setting aside that Touhou Project is there by default, when I went there were collaboration menus with the Cthulhu Mythos and with the ambassador Great-O-Khan. (What chaos.) Apparently in the past they were also indebted to Chain Chronicle... If only I'd found out a little sooner...
The Khan collaboration menu was tempting too, but it looked high in calories so I held off. (Because I'm fat.) I mean, it's Cthulhu! What is this, a Cthulhu Mythos collaboration menu?! Here's the menu...! It doesn't whet my appetite at all, ha ha. Unsure which one was the "correct" choice, I went with the Cthulhu Skewer for now. I mean, it looked the most normal of the bunch. And when you say Lovecraft, you think tentacles, right? (Bias.)
Here's what arrived. Apparently it's takoyaki, fried squid legs, and fried baby octopus with chimichurri sauce. ...As for the all-important taste... Huh? It's surprisingly delicious? This cafe doesn't charge a table fee and the prices are reasonable, so I recommend it, but I think you should check beforehand what kind of collaborations they're doing before you go.
